Summer and beauty: what is worth knowing

Every season has its own rhythm and its own small rules for looking after yourself within the bounds of beauty. Summer is the time when we are outdoors the most - sun, salt, chlorine, heat, long days. We love them, and at the same time they are precisely what changes what our skin and hair need. The good news is that summer can be enjoyed to the full while caring for yourself with ease. You only need to know a few things.

So we are opening a series in which we will turn to summer beauty step by step - one theme each Tuesday, in depth and unhurried. Today we will set out what lies ahead.

Hair under the sun. The sun, seawater and chlorine can have their way with the colour of even the most carefully treated hair. Balayage fades, dark tones shift, sun exposure changes the shade of blond, and the ends of the hair take more strain and dry out. There are ways to protect your hair and its colour even through the hottest weeks - and we will share them.

Skin that breathes. In summer the skin loses water faster than we think, even when it looks tanned and healthy on the surface. Hydration changes over the summer, and with it what our skin will truly appreciate. We will come back to how to support it through the heat.

Hands and feet, finally on show. Summer is the season of open shoes and short sleeves - the time when care for the hands and feet is most rewarding. We will give that its own space too.

Ritual instead of obligation. And finally, what is closest to us: caring for yourself as a moment that is ours - about how to turn a summer routine into something you look forward to.

Beauty in summer is simple - it asks only that you do things right, that you allow yourself to have it, and that you take pleasure in it. We will see you at each of these themes. Next time we begin with hair.
