Understand what you treat yourself to

A small glossary of the terms you will meet with us. No marketing, just clear explanations from the team that uses them every day at the salon on Laurinská 3.

Airtouch

Airtouch is a precise lightening technique in which a stream of air from a dryer separates the shorter, finer hairs so that colour is applied only to the remaining, stronger strands. This creates an exceptionally smooth transition from a darker root into lighter lengths.

It is more time consuming than ordinary highlighting, but the reward is a very natural, almost invisible grow-out and a look that lasts well between appointments.

Airtouch is closely related to balayage and the two are often combined; at MIRRORS we match the technique to your hair and the shade you want, so the result looks effortless.

Anti-age treatment

An anti-age treatment is a facial focused on supporting the skin's elasticity and firmness and easing the signs of time. It combines cleansing, active ingredients, massage and targeted masks according to what the skin currently needs.

It is not about stopping time but about keeping the skin healthy, nourished and bright. The best results come from regularity and care adapted to age and skin condition.

At MIRRORS we approach anti-age treatment individually and without promises of miracles - the goal is visibly healthy skin and the feeling you leave us with.

Babylights

Babylights are very fine, delicate light highlights that imitate the natural lightening of childhood hair. Colour is applied to tiny sections across the whole head, creating brightness without strong contrast.

The technique suits anyone who wants to brighten hair and complexion subtly and gradually, or to soften existing highlights or balayage into a more natural result.

At MIRRORS we often combine babylights with balayage or airtouch, so the colour has both depth and light exactly where it flatters your face most.

Balayage

Balayage is a hair colouring technique in which the colourist paints a lighter shade freehand directly onto the surface of the strands, with no foils and no hard lines. The result is a soft, natural lightening that mimics the way hair lifts in the sun.

Unlike classic highlights, balayage does not leave a sharp line at the regrowth, so it stays looking groomed for a long time between appointments. That is exactly why it takes an experienced eye and a feel for the face and the tone.

At MIRRORS on Laurinska in Bratislava's old town we approach every balayage individually, guided by your natural colour, hair texture and the result meant to suit you, rather than by a template.

Colour-treated hair care

Colour-treated hair needs different care than untouched hair. Lightening changes the structure of the strand, so it matters to restore moisture, protect the colour from fading and spare the hair from styling heat.

The practical minimum: a shampoo made for coloured hair, regular hydrating or reparative treatment, protection from sun and chlorine in summer, and toning to maintain the shade. Gentler washing extends the life of the colour.

At MIRRORS we tailor a home routine to every colour service, so the result you leave the chair with stays beautiful for as long as possible.

Combined manicure

A combined manicure brings together two approaches to the cuticle: first the area is softened and gently prepared, then finished precisely, usually with both an e-file and hand tools. This makes the result clean and gentle at once.

It is the most versatile method and suits most hand types and cuticle conditions. It pairs well with gel polish as well as with a classic nail finish.

At MIRRORS the combined manicure is a frequent base, followed by whatever finish you prefer - from natural to coloured gel polish.

Dry manicure

A dry manicure is done without soaking the hands in water. The cuticle and the area around the nail are worked dry, typically with an e-file and interchangeable bits, which allows very precise and clean work.

Because the nail is not swollen by water before the treatment, gel polish adheres better and the manicure lasts longer. The method is also more hygienic, as it removes the shared hand bath.

At MIRRORS the dry manicure is a favourite base under gel polish precisely for its durability and precision; the tools are sterilised and prepared for you alone.

Gel manicure

A gel manicure is a nail treatment in which gel is applied to the natural nail and cured under a UV or LED lamp. The result is firm, glossy and resistant to chipping, with a natural or coloured finish.

It differs from ordinary polish in its durability and in the way it strengthens the nail plate. It suits anyone who wants groomed hands without daily upkeep and without polish that quickly chips.

At MIRRORS we work with sterilised tools and the highest hygiene standards, so the manicure is not only precise but also safe.

Gel pedicure

A gel pedicure is toenail treatment with gel polish cured under a lamp. The colour stays rich and glossy for several weeks, which is ideal especially in summer, the season of open shoes.

Before the gel polish goes on, the treatment also includes care for the skin of the feet and shaping of the nails, so the result is groomed as a whole, not only on the surface.

At MIRRORS the gel pedicure is sought before holidays - groomed feet that stay beautiful for the whole trip, with no daily upkeep.

Gel polish

Gel polish is a coloured nail finish cured under a lamp that combines the best of polish and gel: rich colour, high shine and durability that commonly lasts two to three weeks without chipping.

The key to it lasting is proper nail preparation, quality product and gentle removal - never peeling, which damages the nail plate.

At MIRRORS in central Bratislava we make sure gel polish is not only beautiful but also expertly applied and safely removed, so your nails stay healthy.

Highlights

Highlights are a classic lightening technique in which selected strands are lifted, usually with foils that ensure an even and more pronounced result. It lets the colourist control precisely how much light is added to the hair.

Highlighting is a good choice when you want stronger contrast, even brightness across the whole head, or a greater degree of lift than softer techniques such as balayage provide.

In our hair salon in central Bratislava we choose between highlights, balayage and airtouch depending on the transition and the shade that will suit you best.

Japanese manicure

A Japanese manicure is a natural, restorative method that does not cover the nail with an artificial layer but nourishes it from within. Pastes and powders containing beeswax, keratin and minerals are worked into the nail plate.

The result is a healthy-looking, naturally pink nail with a silky shine and no polish at all. The method supports growth and strengthening and is ideal for weakened or brittle nails.

At MIRRORS the Japanese manicure is the choice for clients who prefer groomed hands in their most natural form and want to give their nails a rest.

Medical pedicure

A medical pedicure is professional foot care focused on health, not just appearance. It addresses hardened skin, cracks, ingrown nails, corns and pressure points, worked with instruments and dry.

Unlike a cosmetic pedicure it works with a higher degree of precision and hygiene and suits even more sensitive feet that need careful yet gentle treatment.

At MIRRORS we pair the expertise of a medical pedicure with the calm and privacy of our house on Laurinska, so foot care is pleasant from start to finish.

Private beauty

Private beauty is the idea MIRRORS is built on: caring for yourself in privacy, calm and a space that belongs to you alone for a while. No rush, no shop windows onto the street, no sense that you should hurry.

Our house is tucked away on the first floor of a historic building on Laurinska in Bratislava's old town - a place where no one sees you, but you see everyone, and where time moves slowly. Discretion is a given for us, especially for clients from sensitive professions.

Private beauty brings quality, privacy and a premium approach together in one place, whether you come for a single service or a regular ritual of self-care.

Signature Mirrors massage

The signature Mirrors massage is our own massage concept, aimed not only at the muscles but at genuine release of body and mind. We adapt the pace, pressure and rhythm to what you need in the moment.

It is not a contest of strength or a mechanical routine by protocol. It is time in which you can pause for an hour and think of nothing that needs to be done.

In the calm and privacy of the MIRRORS house on Laurinska, the signature massage is one of the quietest ways to give yourself space that is only yours.

Skin hydration

Skin hydration is the replenishing and retaining of moisture in the skin. Well-hydrated skin looks fresh and bright, copes better with external influences, and fine lines appear less pronounced.

The need for hydration shifts with the season. In summer the skin loses water faster than we think, even when it looks tanned and healthy on the outside, so it is worth adapting care to heat and sun.

At MIRRORS a hydrating treatment is the foundation of healthy skin and a good starting point for further care, including anti-age treatments.

Toning

Toning is the finishing adjustment of shade that unifies and refines colour after lightening. It neutralises unwanted warm tones, adds depth or coolness and softens the transition between strands.

For blonde hair toning is essential - it decides whether the result reads as refined and clean or turns brassy. The tone gradually washes out, which is why toning is refreshed regularly.

At MIRRORS we treat toning as part of caring for coloured hair rather than as an add-on: it is the step that keeps your colour exactly where it belongs.

Women's haircut

A women's haircut is more than taking off length. It is work with shape that accounts for hair texture, face shape and how much time you want to spend styling at home. A good cut holds its form after washing and grows out well.

It usually begins with a consultation to clarify what you expect from your hair and what is realistically manageable for your texture. The precision of a cut shows precisely when you style it yourself.

At MIRRORS in Bratislava's old town we approach the cut without rush - it is a ritual for which the client has ample time and calm.
